Peregrine Securities Litigation
Gold Bennett Cera & Sidener LLP recently obtained final approval of settlements totaling $56,075,000 in litigation relating to Peregrine Systems, Inc. These settlements, plus prior recoveries, bring the total obtained for former Peregrine shareholders to more than $117,000,000. The lawsuit stemmed from a massive accounting scandal at Peregrine, which ultimately led to a $500 million financial restatement. After Peregrine filed for bankruptcy protection in September 2002, Gold Bennett Cera & Sidener LLP pursued claims in the Bankruptcy Court, which led to a significant recovery for shareholders. The Firm also obtained substantial recoveries from several officers and directors of Peregrine, as well as Peregrine's former auditor, Arthur Andersen.
Tronox Securities Litigation
Gold Bennett Cera & Sidener LLP has been appointed as lead counsel on behalf of shareholders that purchased securities of Tronox, Inc. between November 28, 2005 and January 12, 2009 ("Class Period"). The case is pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. The lawsuit charges that Kerr-McGee Corporation spun-off Tronox, Inc. in 2006 to avoid hundreds of millions of dollars in environmental remediation expenses. Soon after spinning-off Tronox, Kerr-McKee was acquired by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
